This document is intended to serve as a guide for authorizers to assist them in developing and implementing a process of soliciting and evaluating charter school applications.
WRCCS developed a quickstart guide to help you as an authorizer develop a practice of charter school monitoring. This will help you assess the charter school’s annual performance in addition to giving you the information you need to renew their charter contract.
The role of the charter school authorizer is critical to ensuring success and accountability for charter schools. Your entity allows the governance board to operate the school according to your performance expectations. Your entity can also focus work around a mission and create solutions for the community you serve.
Within this document you will find the 12 Essential Practices for Charter Authorizers from the National Association of Charter
School Authorizers (NACSA) (in grey) integrated with the Wisconsin statute requirements (in yellow).
